A £280 million redevelopment of this famous market in east London, to include refurbishing current shops and increasing the size of the market, increasing affordable homes new cinema and residential apartments. SCL undertook a combined geotechnical and environmental investigation in this busy, live site, requiring close liaison with tenants, property owners, highways authority and the local authority. The investigation included the following:
Phase 1 Desk Study (Preliminary Risk Assessment)
Phase 2 intrusive investigation which included 14 cable percussive boreholes to 45m depth and 15 shallow window sampler boreholes for environmental assessment
Geotechnical interpretative report including foundation recommendations and provision of design parameters
Environmental assessment
