A prestigious 340,000 sq ft mixed-use redevelopment in Knightsbridge which includes high-end retail and office space, luxury residential units and roof-top restaurant. The project included a complex façade retention and further challenges included the presence of the Knightsbridge LUL underground tube station beneath part of the site. SCL undertook two phased of phased investigations including the following:


  • Cable percussive boreholes to between 40m and 65m depth
  • Rotary cored borehole to 71.50m depth using GeoborS techniques to provide high quality soil core samples
  • Hand excavated trial pits to expose existing foundations and services
  • In-situ self-boring pressuremeter testing
  • Downhole seismic testing (using specialist sub-contractor) to determine shear modulus
  • Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) using basement system with existing foundation for reaction
  • Contamination testing
